A violin by Giuseppe and Giovanni Battista Guadagnini, Turin, circa 1773

Principally the work of Giuseppe Guadagnini at a time when father and son were collaborating. Sold with the certificate of J. & A. Beare, London.

The mother of our client bought this violin from J. and A. Beare, London in the 1970s shortly after winning the Carl Flesch competition. 

Dendrochronology gives dates within three tree rings of 1758 on the bass side and late 1750s on the treble side. The sides from totally different trees.

The head and sides by another hand.
